The Wellness Check is a structured, scored assessment that says what pattern is actually underneath it, and matches your dog's spa ritual to the answer.
An instrument, not an opinion.
Most wellness talk in a grooming salon is a groomer's hunch, dressed up. This is not that. The Wellness Check is a standardized fourteen question assessment across five categories, scored the same way every single time, plus a hands-on read of what your dog is showing us on the table. Every certified practitioner runs it identically, which is the whole point: two practitioners assessing the same dog reach the same answer.
If the recommendation cannot be traced back to something we scored, it is a sales script. Ours traces back every time.
The assessment separates constitution, meaning your dog's baseline type, from current state, meaning what is showing up right now because of season, stress, or environment. Knowing the difference is what changes the recommendation.
What happens at your appointment
It happens inside the appointment you already booked. You do not need a second visit.
- 01 We tell you what we are doing No mystery, no upsell theater. Your practitioner explains that the assessment is the basis for everything they are about to recommend.
- 02 We walk you through the quiz Fourteen questions about coat, skin, energy, temperature, stress, and the small quirks you know better than anyone. You answer, we listen.
- 03 We score it in front of you The pattern is calculated right there, not sent off somewhere and returned as a verdict. You see how the answer was reached.
- 04 We check it against the dog A hands-on read of coat, skin, paw pads, ears, and energy to confirm the score matches what is actually in front of us. Sometimes it does not, and that is useful information too.
- 05 We recommend three things, not thirty One service, one home care habit, and at most one product. If a product would not genuinely help your dog, we do not name one.
- 06 We write it down and keep it Scores, pattern, recommendations, and a follow up plan go in your dog's file. Next season we re-check and compare, so you can see what moved.
Every dog has a type
Three patterns, one primary result. It decides the bath, the products, the dryer setting, the pace, and which seasonal ritual we pair them with.

Once we know their type, we can put the same botanicals in your hands. The matched take-home kit is offered only after the assessment, and only when it would actually help. It is never a condition of anything.
Where this ends, and your vet begins
Groomers should not replace veterinary care, and we will not pretend otherwise. The boundary is built into the method, not bolted on at the bottom of the page.

Fair questions
Do I need a separate appointment?
No. The Wellness Check happens inside the groom or bath you already booked. Add it when you book, or ask at drop-off if there is time in the slot.
Is this the same as the free Dog Dosha Quiz online?
The free quiz online gives you your dog's likely type from your answers alone, and it is genuinely useful. The Wellness Check adds the part a website cannot do: a certified practitioner confirming that score against your dog's actual coat, skin, paws, ears, and energy, then building a written plan around it and logging it. Take the free quiz first if you want. We will still run the full assessment.
Is my dog being diagnosed with something?
No. This is a wellness pattern, not a medical finding. If we see something that belongs in front of a veterinarian, we will say so plainly and tell you to go, which is the only correct answer and the one the method trains us to give.
Am I going to get sold a pile of products?
No. The recommendation is one service, one home care habit, and at most one optional product, and only when the product genuinely helps. The assessment is designed to hold its full value with nothing attached to it.
Is it included with the Beauty Bar Club?
It is not. The Wellness Check is a separate $39 add-on, available to members and non-members alike. Membership covers your monthly bath and your beauty bar picks.
How often should we redo it?
Seasonally is the honest answer. Constitution stays fairly stable, but current state moves with the weather, and the ritual that suits your dog in July is rarely the one that suits them in January. That is exactly why the results live in their file.
